APPROVAL of a three-year Labor Agreement between the City of Topeka and the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 3.

 

Voting Requirement: At least six (6) votes of the Governing Body is required.

(Approval will provide the terms and conditions of the employee-employer relationship as tentatively agreed to between Management and the Union and authorize the City Manager to execute the agreement effective January 2025 through December 2027.)

Action requires at least six (6) votes of the Governing Body is required.
POLICY ISSUE:

Pursuant to Topeka Municipal Code Section 2.115.020(a) approval of employee agreements between the city and a recognized employee organization is approved by the city council and signed by the city manager.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends the Governing Body move to approve the agreement.    

BACKGROUND:

The current contract expires December 31, 2024. A tentative agreement has been reached for a 3 year contract and the FOP has ratified the contract. A summary of contract amendments is attached.
