APPROVAL of a Public Works AIA Architect Contract between the City of Topeka and Schwerdt Design Group, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $157,680 for engineering and architectural services.
(Approval will authorize the City Manager to sign and execute the contract for facility inspection condition assessment and recommendation for repairs and replacement of any systems, of the existing hotel located at 1717 SW Topeka Boulevard.)
| | VOTING REQUIREMENTS: | Action requires at least six (6) votes of the Governing Body. | | POLICY ISSUE: | Whether to approve the contract for professional services. Pursuant to TMC 3.30.010, all contracts for professional services exceeding $50,000 must be approved by the Governing Body. | | STAFF RECOMMENDATION: | Staff recommends that the Governing Body approves the contract as part of the consent agenda. | | BACKGROUND: | The City of Topeka issued a request for proposals, Event 2826, on June 16, 2023 for qualified firms to provide proposals for evaluating and assessing the major systems of the former Hotel Topeka. The City desires to understand the status of the major systems and to obtain recommendations for repairs and replacement of these systems necessary to serve as the foundation of a major hotel improvement.
