The City's housing study identified a need to construct 420 units over the next five years to meet the demand for housing as well as an additional 2300 units to catch up from past demand.
State law provides a tool to meet that demand by providing economic incentives for housing projects. The first step is to create a policy that will guide the Governing Body in evaluating applications for the creation of rural housing incentive districts.
At its meeting on December 8, 2022, the Public Infrastructure Committee recommended approval of the policy by the Governing Body.
