RESCINDING Resolution No. 9270 approved by the Governing Body on October 12, 2021, recommending resumption of metered parking on certain downtown streets.
Voting Requirement: At least six (6) votes of the Governing Body are required to rescind Resolution No. 9270.
(Approval to rescind the resolution would result in staff placing bags back on the parking meters along the 100 blocks of Kansas Avenue between 6th and 10th Streets on the east and west sides.)
| VOTING REQUIREMENTS: | At least six (6) votes of the Governing Body are required to rescind the resolution. | POLICY ISSUE: | In order to consider a motion to rescind the resolution, the Governing Body must first suspend their Rules (See Rule 6.3(h)) which requires seven (7) votes of the Governing Body.
If the motion to suspend is approved, then six (6) votes of the Governing Body are required to rescind the resolution. | STAFF RECOMMENDATION: | Staff is making no recommendation. | BACKGROUND: |
On September 14, 2021, the Public Infrastructure Committee voted to recommend resuming charging for those parking spaces through 2-hour metered parking by vote of 3-0-0.
On October 12, 2021, the Governing Body approved Resolution No. 9270, recommending resumption of metered parking on the 100 blocks of Kansas Avenue between 6th and 10th Streets on the east and west sides.
On January 4, 2022, Councilmember Dobler announced his intention to ask the Governing Body on January 18, 2022, to suspend Rule 6.3(f) and vote to rescind Resolution No. 9270 approved October 12, 2021, by the Governing Body.
