POLICY ISSUE: |
Determine whether to move forward with discussions related to entering into a Public Private Partnership with Friends of the Topeka Zoo (FOTZ) to manage the Topeka Zoo in accordance with terms and conditions set out in a corresponding License and Management Agreement. |
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: |
Based on feedback from the Governing Body, staff will present at the November 17, 2020 Governing Body Meeting the License and Management Fee proposal. |
BACKGROUND: |
On four separate occasions over the past ten years, Friends of the Topeka Zoo has engaged Zoo Advisors to consult on the formation of a Public Private Partnership to aid the City in better preserving the future of the Topeka Zoo. Zoo Advisors has worked with both FOTZ and City staff to evaluate the economic impact and opportunity that exists through creating a partnership.
