BOARD APPOINTMENT recommending the appointment of TaZaras Isom to the Topeka Human Relations Commission to fill an unexpired term and a full term expiring January 1, 2020. (Council District No. 3) | | VOTING REQUIREMENTS: | | | POLICY ISSUE: | Ordinance 18382. The purpose of the Topeka Human Relations Commission is to endeavor to eliminate prejudice among various racial, ethnic and other groups in the city, and to further goodwill among all people of the city. | | STAFF RECOMMENDATION: | Mayor Wolgast recommends the appointment of Tazaras Isom to the Topeka Human Relations Commission to fill an unexpired term and a full term ending January 1, 2020 . Mr. Isom is a resident of Topeka as required for nomination. | | BACKGROUND: | This is a City-created board where the City Council nominates and the Mayor appoints. The board shall be comprised of nine members and serve two-year terms. Members shall be drawn from diverse racial, ethnic, commercial, industrial and other segments of the community and shall be city residents. Members shall serve without compensation.
