DOCUMENT DESCRIPTION:

DISCUSSION and update regarding the Property Maintenance Code Enforcement Division.

POLICY ISSUE:

An overview of the Property Maintenance Code Enforcement Division will be provided by staff.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:

Discussion only.

BACKGROUND:

In February of 2015 the Department of Neighborhood Relations was formally created within the City organization.  This new Department was a reorganization of our Housing Services Division (fka HND), Community Engagement Division and the Development Services/Property Maintenance Division.  The philosophy behind the reorganization was to pull all of the services most accessed by neighborhoods and residents into one Department in an effort to create a seamless provision of service to the resident/customer.

Since that time much work has gone into the improvement of delivery of Code Enforcement services to the community.  Staff will provide an overview of the work undertaken to improve service delivery, partnerships with other Departments that have been key to the improved process and a review of the Division's activity in 2016.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:
There is no budgetary impact to the City.
SOURCE OF FUNDING:
