A RESOLUTION introduced by Councilmember Karen Hiller, approving a special event known as the 2017 Second Saturday Summer Concert Series. (Council District No. 1)
(Approval would authorize the sale, consumption and possession of alcoholic liquor within designated barricaded portions of SW 8th Street between Kansas Avenue and Jackson Street on specified dates from June-September 2017 between the hours of 5:30 p.m. and 1:30 a.m.) | | POLICY ISSUE: | Approval allows the barricaded portion of SW 8th Avenue between Kansas Avenue and Jackson Street to be closed to motor vehicle traffic for a special event, allowing special event attendees to buy, possess and consume alcoholic beverages in the specific area designated by the State of Kansas Division of Alcohol Beverage Control. | | STAFF RECOMMENDATION: | Staff recommends the Governing Body move to approve the resolution. | | BACKGROUND: | The events will take place on June 10, July 8, August 12 and September 9, 2017 between the hours of 5:30 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. the following morning.
