APPROVAL of the Transient Guest Tax (TGT) Committee Report and Recommendation with regards to a multi-year funding contract with Visit Topeka, Inc. (VTI).

 

(Approval of the TGT Committee's recommendation would authorize changing the current one-year funding contract with VTI to a three-year contract.)

POLICY ISSUE:

Whether to accept the TGT Committee recommendation that the annual funding contract with VTI be changed from one year to three years.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Staff makes no recommendation.
BACKGROUND:

VTI requested that the TGT Committee consider its request for a multi-year funding contract rather than an annual contract. The Committee met on March 8, 2017, to consider the request.  Brett Oetting, VTI Executive Director, advised that a multi year contract would provide more flexibility and enable VTI to attract events.  The Committee voted to recommend that the VTI contract be changed from one year to three years.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:

TGT funds would be distributed over a three year period.
