BOARD APPOINTMENT recommending the reappointment of Doria Watson to the Civil Service Commission to fill an unexpired term ending May 1, 2021. (Council District No. 4) | | POLICY ISSUE: | The Civil Service Commission controls all examinations with advice from the police chief, fire chief, technical advisor and city attorney or their respective designees. The commission will provide uniform rules with respect thereto and shall hold such examinations as are necessary for the purpose of determining the qualifications and fitness of applicants for positions on the police and fire departments. | | STAFF RECOMMENDATION: | Mayor Wolgast nominates and recommends the reappointment of Doria Watson for a term that would end May 1, 2021. | | BACKGROUND: | Ordinance 18382. The Civil Service Commission has control of exams and the nature of the exams for the Police and Fire Departments. The Commission also certifies the list of eligible applicants and prepares an annual report for the City Manager. The City Manager may also request special reports from the Commission at any time.
